Farkle — How to play

How to play

  1. 6 dice per turn; score with 1s, 5s, and sets.
  2. After each scoring you may roll again or bank.
  3. If a roll is worth nothing, the turn is lost.
  4. The game ends as soon as someone reaches the chosen target score (default 10,000).

How a turn works

  1. Roll all six dice.
  2. Set aside at least one scoring die: single 1s (100) and 5s (50) always score, plus three of a kind, the 1–6 straight and three pairs.
  3. Decide: roll the remaining dice again – or bank. Banked points are safe and can never be lost.
  4. Hot dice: If all six dice have scored, you may roll all six again and keep collecting in the same turn.

If a roll produces no new scoring dice, that's a Farkle: every unbanked point from the turn is lost and play passes on. That push-your-luck decision – roll again or bank – is the whole game.

Farkle scoring rules: three, four, five and six of a kind

Three of a kindface value × 100 (three 1s = 1,000)
Four of a kind2 × the triple score
Five of a kind3 × the triple score
Six of a kind4 × the triple score

Example: three 4s score 400 – so four 4s score 800, five 4s 1,200 and six 4s 1,600.
