Spyn Dice — How to play

How a turn works

  1. Everyone rolls their life points first: six dice, so anywhere from 6 to 36 life.
  2. On your turn you roll six dice and may set some aside and reroll the rest — at least one die, but never all of them.
  3. When you stop, the total of your six dice is measured against the threshold of 30.
  4. Drop to 0 life and you are out. The last player standing wins.

The game needs at least two players. The aim is not to roll as high as possible but to beat 30 deliberately — or to hit it exactly.

The threshold of 30 — the heart of the game

Total above 30Attack: the difference comes off your opponent's life
Total exactly 30Neutral: no damage to anyone
Total below 30Self-damage: the difference comes off your own life

That is what makes setting dice aside the real decision: stopping early on 28 costs you two life, while rerolling might turn it into an attack — or into a far more expensive miss.
